"How Did You Make That?" Egg Flower

I call it... "Egg Flower."

I made my regular "meal #1" today, 4 egg whites and 1 whole egg, but I added a little fun with leftover veggies.

On August 22, I posted a picture of the Egg Flowers on a bed of Romaine lettuce on my Personal Training/Coach Foreverfit4u Facebook Page and on the Power Food Recipes by Debi Buck Aug 22, 2012 a Group on Facebook.

Several people I talked to recently about the picture weren't exactly sure what they were looking at and others weren't sure how it was prepared.

To answer the question, "How did you do that?" here is a photographic step by step "How To" make this fun breakfast!

Gather all your ingredients:

All you need is:

Large non-stick pan;

Some non-stick cooking spray;

Five (5) eggs (number of eggs depends on how many you want to make);

Sweet Bell Peppers;

And a fresh tomato.

*     Now separate OUT four of the egg yokes.

*     Place each egg white in a small custard cup.

*     Put one whole egg, yoke and egg white, in it's own little custard cup.

This allows you to pour one egg white (or egg white/yoke combo) into one piece of sliced sweet bell pepper. You can see where I'm going with this, right?

*     Slice your sweet bell peppers horizontally into five (5) sections about 1/2" thick.

*     Now slice your tomato horizontally into 1/4" sections. Using CHERRY TOMATOES works well too, just slice in half!

*    Set aside momentarily.

*    Spray the non-stick cooking spray into your large pan, covering the entire cooking surface.

*Tip*   I recommend doing this over the kitchen sink so the spray doesn't get all over everything.

*    Turn your stove top on high (at first) and put your large pan on the stove top for about 30-60 seconds to heat up the pan.

*     Place the sweet bell pepper slices in the pan. I push them down so that the entire surface of the sweet bell pepper slice makes contact with the entire surface of the heated pan.

*     Slowly add the egg white from one of your custard cups into the middle of the sweet bell pepper.

*      When adding the WHOLE egg, hold the custard cup as close to the surface as you can so when the yoke falls out, it will not break.

*Tip*     While the egg white is still loose, you can GENTLY manipulated the yoke to be positioned in the center of the sweet bell pepper slice.

*Tip*     If the egg white runs out from under your sweet bell pepper, DON"T PANIC! Once it cooks (in a few seconds) it will stop. Before you plate (in my case, before you take a picture - LOL)  you can remove the now cooked runaway egg white. It will come right off and no one will be the wiser! I eat that right away! NOM NOM NOM

*     Turn the heat DOWN to medium low and watch your creation. When the egg white is completely white, it is done. Some people like the egg loose, some like it cooked more thoroughly, so cook for your personal tastes.

*     The whole egg flower may need to cook a little longer depending on how you like your egg yoke cooked. I flipped mine to let it cook a little more after I removed the four egg white flowers.

*     Using a apple corer kitchen tool, I cut out four circles of tomato and placed them in the center of the sweet bell pepper egg white creation!

*     Place washed/clean and dried pieces of Romaine lettuce on a plate to add green to the presentation.

Place your "Egg Flowers" on the Romaine lettuce and your breakfast is complete!

BSN Lean Dessert Protein Cupcakes

BSN Lean Dessert Protein Cupcakes

This is such a tasty guilt free treat! I make these regularly so I have a quick low carb meal!

20120722-152730.jpg

Recipe:

* 4 serving size scoops of BSN Dessert in a bowl - I LOVE the "Fresh Cinnamon" & "Banana Nut" flavors!
* Add 1/4 teaspoon of baking soda to the mix before the water
* Add 7-8 oz of cold water
* Mix with a whisk until creamy (consistency of cake batter)
* Pour into "If You Care" Unbleached Totally Chlorine Free Large Baking Cups
+ Don't use regular paper cupcake cups cuz they will stick.
+ The red nonstick rubber cupcake molds work great too!
* Pre heat oven to 400 deg F
* Bake on center rack for 15 minutes

20120722-120750.jpg

* Remove from the oven & top with ur fav topping while hot! (I use natural organic peanut butter)
* Let cool & Enjoy guilt free yumminess!
* This Recipe should make 9 cupcakes

The results vary depending on the type & brand of protein powder! Zero carb protein powders don't work well for baking.

No Assist Pull Ups 6-26-2012

Today, Tuesday, June 26, 2012, I'm 4 days (almost 3 days - it's late) away from my second Figure competition of 2012. I am soooo ready and very excited. The women I will be competing against in the 2012 NPC Met Rx Maryland State / East Coast Classic on June 30th, are of a very high caliber. It will be an honor to stand with them on stage! I am definitely brining my best. I have visibly improved from my first Figure competition October 29, 2011!

This was my first exercise in the gym today after an hour on the step mill (those evil rotating stairs than never seem to end!

Have a great week everyone!

Are you a Figure Competitor?

TODAY

I just sent this text to my trainer today. This happened yesterday but I can't stop thinking about it.

"I forgot to tell u... Yesterday at the Olney FF, some 20something guy came up to me & asked me if I was a Figure Competitor! What a rush! I said, 'Yes, yes I am!' It was so cool that strangers see me as a Figure Competitor!"

BACK UP IN TIME

In January 2011, I decided I wanted to compete in bodybuilding. I trained hard, ate clean & lived a healthy lifestyle with the end goal of competing in October 2011 in an OCB show.

I competed in natural bodybuilding in 2000 & 2001. I had not competed since that time and I only maintained my workouts to remain at a healthy weight, not to build muscle.

So in late June 2011, my trainer (after evaluating my building muscle progress over the passed 6 months) & I decided to compete in Figure instead of Bodybuilding. This was completely new to me. I was totally in the dark about what it takes to be a figure competitor. TOTALLY!

This being said, I embarked on my journey to become a successful Figure Competitor at the age of 46.

The workouts and contest dieting was not an issue! I had that down. It was all the foreign elements of Figure that challenged me along the way. I asked a lot of questions.

I learned about posing but really didn't "get it" even though I tried to strike the pose like the girls in the fitness magazines. I even had a posing coach.

I worked on my "girly girl" walk! That was a challenge since I've been a jock tomboy my entire life!

I bought the blingy suit & jewelry, as well as the clear 5" stripper pumps.

So the day came, October 29, 2011. I competed in the OCB Yorton Cup! My trainer & I didn't realize it, but It was a HUGE show! Hundreds of competitors total in bodybuilding (mens & womens) and Womens Fitness Figure & Bikini! Masters Divisions, numerous height divisions... Oh boy, I was pretty overwhelmed!

I placed 5th in Figure Novice Tall, 6th in Figure Open Med Tall & 6th in Figure Masters 45+! I thought my posing sucked but it was an amazing experience.

I wanted to do better. I wanted rounder larger shoulders, lean muscular legs & most of all, pose well!

I've worked very hard for the last 7 months to reach those goals! My first Figure competition (of two) in 2012 is in less than a week...

But that one question... from that random stranger... at an unfamiliar gym brought it all together!

Yes, I am a Figure competitor! Thank you for asking!

Three Weeks out

May is almost over! Wow, time is flying by!  I am in my third week out from the first Figure competition of the 2012 season & I feel GREAT! Hmmm...  I have been lifting HEAVY since January 2012! My trainer, Kevin White, has been training me like a bodybuilder, as opposed to a figure competitor, in an effort to put on more muscle.  I've been documenting my progress with short video clips that I post on YouTube & Google+ This month I also have participated in two fundraising races. I am not a fan of running, especially in prep, but these good causes motivate me to run! Back on May 5, 2012 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5RBZjOIQjOU&feature=youtube_gdata_player On May 12, 2012, I ran in the Police Week 5K Fundraiser to support the families of Police Officers that died in the line of duty  Shoulders on May 15, 2012  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qg8A_IVTHLY&feature=youtube_gdata_player May 19, 2012, I ran in the Warrior Dash  a obstacle course mud run fundraiser for The Wounded Warrior Project Legs on May 24, 2012 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yxlfzt2s7Lg&feature=youtube_gdata_player I am still feeling strong, even on my low carb days of my carb cycling diet. We'll see what the next few weeks bring & if I can keep my stamina up!  Debi Buck Foreverfit4u™ Train Hard, Eat Clean, Live Well

No March Blog - Oops, Time for an Update!

Hello Everyone!

The March weather in the DC/MD/NoVA (DMV) has been so nice this year! I was outside a lot! I think that's why I neglected my blog!

Mid March started my contest prep! Now, here I am in April, Week 10! Wow, how time flies!

I'm still training heavy. I'm trying to build as much muscle as I can before June. One of my weaknesses when I competed in the 2011 OCB Yorton Cup was the lack of the amount of muscle I carried compared to my competition. I was lean, no "junk in the trunk," but I looked stringy. (I placed 5th in Novice Tall, 6th in Masters 40+ & 6th Open Mid Tall)

My trainer, Kevin White, has designed my training program & food plans to gain muscle mass. I am seeing a difference in my physique as I lean out. That is very exciting!

I have been working on my posing, which was the other weakness in the 2011 show.

As a first time Figure competitor & former bodybuilding competitor, my posing was definitely confused. I reverted to holding certain poses like a bodybuilder & others just plain sucked! My trainer said I'm too hard on myself and I did great for my first time. I plan to do MUCH better this year!

That is a quick update & I will be posting more often as I get closer to June.

I have much more fitness oriented events planned after my June Figure competitions so stay tuned!

Well, today is Easter & my rest day so I'm off to walk the dogs in the beautiful spring sunshine ("Active Rest")

Trying to Design a Blog Layout -So Confusing

I'm trying to design the layout for my new blog, Foreverfit4u. Somehow I cannot undo the merging of my Blogger blog profile with my Google+ profile and all these gadget have my head spinning! I guess I should just put the iPad down, go to sleep & pick up on it another day with help from my blogger friends & my desktop computer *sigh* Well, at least I had a crazy fun productive chest shoulder tricep workout this morning, my friend/trainer is now on twitter (@KevinWhiteUncut), I spent time w/my close girlfriend over a sushi lunch and I had a super fun time at my work holiday party! That is a pretty great day even if I haven't been able to get this weblog site finished! Any suggestions, please comment! I love interaction! I hope you had a Happy Hump Day!
